I had a lady’s luncheon and for dessert I poached some pears from my pear trees in a simple syrup with a vanilla bean, star anise, and a few other spices. I then stood them up on their sides in the gingerbread batter and after they were baked I sliced them into individual servings. Each slice of gingerbread had a slice of poached pear in it, garnished with a blackberry sauce and homemade whip cream. It looked so special and was moist and flavorful!

The ingredients are flour, salt, yeast and water....when you didn't have anything extra to add. It is on it's second rise just getting ready to place in the oven.
It is sooooo, good! Just out of the oven with butter and/or peanut butter, toast, rolls, pizza dough, fried dough dipped in sugar. This recipe will be in my High Prairie Life, Spring cookbook, which is coming out this Spring! © High Prairie Life 2017 #recipe #bread #yeast #flour #poormansbread #spearfish #southdakota #midwest #easyrecipe #highprairielife Fennel-Pepper Biscotti’s are delicious!
