Today on High Prairie Life I will share with you some tips and tricks on how to separate the yolk from the egg white.

I then stood them up on their sides in the gingerbread batter and after they were baked I sliced them into individual servings. Each slice of gingerbread had a slice of poached pear in it, garnished with a blackberry sauce and homemade whip cream. It looked so special and was moist and flavorful!

Recipe yield: 6-8 Prep time: 10 minutes Cook time: Stove top 15 minutes or oven time 40 -60 minutes My husband Dave and I restored an old 1890 stone farmhouse that used to have a pony living in the downstairs bedroom and a goat upstairs. Once we bought the place in 1997 and moved the goat and pony out, the home has slowly been improving ever since and is now on the South Dakota State Register of Historic Places. Through several years of restorations, Dave and I managed to stay married and our kids are still talking to us so we consider it a great success!

After a cold outing taking care of the farm animals it was time for hot chocolate. The big decision was marshmallow creme first then mini marshmallows and sprinkles or mini marshmallows then the marshmallow creme and sprinkles? So, they tried it both ways and the vote is marshmallow creme first so the mini marshmallows last longer! May all your choices in life be that simple and fun!

It is winter in the Black Hills of SD and I love to entertain at the lodge, but I don't want to spend a lot nor do I want to have to store a lot of seasonal items.
So, I set my table with burlap I bought at the fabric store for a table cloth. I love the texture and it comes in so many colors. If you feel like it, sew a straight line across each end and make a couple of inches of fringe. When I am done with it, I just roll it back up and store on shelf in the closet. |
